Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in the western part of Uganda spanning across districts like Bushenyi, Kasese, Bundibugyo. The Park covers an area of 1978 kms2 with parts of Lake George and Edward that are dissected with the Kazinga channel.

How to Get There

Queen Elizabeth can be accessed by use of both Road and Air so by road, you board a 4×4 vehicle to transfer you from Kampala via Mbarara or Fort portal through Kasese for a period of 5-6 hours to the park. You can also use the filthy road if you are coming from Bwindi.

By Air

Queen Elizabeth National Park is accessed by use of Air Transport as you board a domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip then fly to Kihihi Airstrip where you leave from to the Park.

Activities to do in the Park

Game Drives

Game Drives are the most prominent safari to do in the park and these are done using 4×4 vehicles in company of a skilled park ranger guide who leads you to various tracks in the park watching wildlife wander around their natural vegetation habitat. The wildlife animals you watch here include; buffalos, zebras, lions, elephants, kobs, mongoose, antelopes, warthogs, hyenas, topis.

Bird Watching

Queen Elizabeth National Park is an exciting destination for all birders from all over the world looking to watch the various bird species that inhabit the thick forest vegetation habitat. The Birds you can watch here include; the White-faced Whistling, Spur-winged Plovers, Squacco Heron, Fish Eagle, Pink, white backed Pelicans, Long tailed Cormorants, African Jacana, Yellow backed Weavers, open-billed Stork, Water-Thick knee, Pied kingfishers, Wattled Plovers, the Black Crake.

Chimpanzee tracking

Chimpanzee tracking is very exceptional and done at Queen Elizabeth’s Kyambura Gorge where you track the Chimpanzees for 2-4 hours as you follow them along different tracks in the green forest. You are informed about them and their communities as well as way of life in the thick green forest vegetation habitat.

Cultural Encounters

Cultural Encounters at Queen Elizabeth National Park are also done in the nearby local communities as well as the Igongo Cultural Center. On these you are welcomed and introduced to the local ways and traditions of the people.

Launch Trips

Launch Trips in Queen Elizabeth take place along the Kazinga Channel where you watch various wildlife animals along the shores breaking their thirst as well as crocodiles and hippos beneath the waters. The launch trips are in sessions i.e the Morning, Afternoon and Evening session where you get to explore the kazinga Channel and this enables you watch many different Bird species too.
