Murchison Falls National Park is situated in Buliisa District Western Uganda and Nwoya District Northern Uganda. The Park covers an area of 3,893km2 with numerous wildlife animals elephants, leopards, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos etc.

Murchison Falls National Park is accessed by use of both Road and Air Transport.

By Road

Murchison Falls National Park is accessed by use of Road as you transfer from Entebbe to Kampala- Pakwach Route for a period of 5 hours. From Masindi to Paraa it takes you 85 kms and you can also use the Budongo Forest Route which offers you views of Lake Albert, Rift Valley close to Butiaba. You can also reach Paraa by following the route close to Chobe Gate, Tangi and Karuma Falls.

By Air

Murchison Falls National Park can be accessed using Air transport as you board a domestic flight from Entebbe Airport/ Kajjansi Airfield to Pakuba Airfield for 19 kms to North Paraa and other Airfields like Bugungu.

Bird watching

Murchison Falls National is a perfect destination for Bird watching as the Park inhabits many species of Birds that can be watched and are fond of flying around their naural forets habitat. The bird species you watch here include; the Shoebill Stork, Goliath Heron (the largest heron in the world), and pairs of elegant Grey Crowned Cranes (Uganda’s national bird). Along the banks of River Nile are species like the Blue-headed Coucal, Swamp Flycatcher, Squacco Heron, African Jacana, Sandpipers, Denham’s Bustard, Abyssinian Ground-Hornbill, Black-billed Barbet, Black-headed Gonolek, Eastern Grey Plantain-eater, Piapiac, Silverbird, Weaver Birds, Pied, Giant, Malachite Kingfishers, Red-throated Bee-eater, White-browed Sparrow Weaver, Speckle-fronted Weaver and African Quail-Finch.

Hiking and Nature Walks are perfect to do at Murchison falls National Park with a skilled Park ranger who leads you along various trails like the Kaniyo pabidi and Rabongo forests where you watch many birds and primates in the forest. Game drives are the most prominent safari activity carried out in the Park and these are done in company of a ranger who leads you along the varying tracks as you watch the various wildlife animals wander around their natural vegetation habitat. He Game Drives are done in a 4×4 Vehicle to transfer you alon the different rugged tracks and the animals you watch include; Elephants, lions in the bushes, kobs, buffalos, warthogs, oribi etc.

Launch Trips

Murchison falls National Park is perfect for Boat cruises which are done along the Victoria Nile. The Boat cruises are done in three different sessions i.e the Morning Session, Afternoon Session and Evening Session. The cruises take you to the bottom of the Falls for a period of 3 hours watching many wildlife animals along the Banks, Crocodiles and Hippos beneath the waters.

Sport Fishing

Sports’ Fishing at Murchison Falls National Park is also very exceptional to all kinds of travelers as they get to catch Nile Perch Fish at the Bottom of the falls. You carry your own fishing equipment or hire to enjoy fishing.
