Mountain Karisimbi Volcano

Mount Karisimbi Volcano is an active strato Volcano located in an area between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Volcano elevates to 4,507 metres (14,787 ft) making it the highest of all the 8 Virunga Mountain Volcanoes. This Mountain Volcano is near Mount Mikeno Volcano in the North, Mount Bisoke volcano East and Mount Nyiragongo Volcano West. It is located in Volcanoes National Park along the border between Rwanda and the DR Congo with a caldera Branca and two craters at the summit (Mutango being the largest).

Hiking to the top of Mount Karisimbi Volcano Rwanda

At Mount Karisimbi Volcano, you are briefed on conduct as you hike to the top of the Mountain Volcano and en-route view the volcanic physical features. Wear your hiking/ trekking boots then with porters carrying your luggage at US $20 embark on hike for 2 Days starting at 7:00 am and en-route you break off for at your Camp for relaxation, Dinner and Rest.

Go through the cold of night then enjoy morning breakfast and continue on ascent for an hour through a very steep and challenging trail through sticky mud, strong wind and fog then later to the summit. After a while, you reach the top of the summit and here watch Mount Muhabura volcano, Nyamulagira volcano and Mount Nyiragongo Volcano in DR Congo at a distance.

Hiking Permits to Mount Karisimbi Volcano

Mount Karisimbi Volcano Hiking Permits are acquired from the park headquarters and these are got on the Day of the Hike. These should be booked in advance before your date of arrival.

This Hiking permit costs US $400 per person interested in hiking to the top of the Mountain Volcano in Rwanda.
