Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park is situated West of Uganda a few kilometers off the busy town of Mbarara. The Park covers an area of 260 sq. kms hence the smallest among all Uganda’s Savannah Parks. The park is home to many wildlife animals, flora with animals like Buffaloes, Zebras, Impala, kobs which are watched on Game drives as you transfer from one place to another. The Park’s terrain comprises of undulating grass hills lake Mburo’s shore, Acacia Woodlands that offer awesome habitats for all the wildlife in the park.
Activities at Lake Mburo National Park
Game Drives
Game Drives are the most prominent safari to do in the park and these are done using 4×4 vehicles in company of a skilled park ranger guide who leads you to various tracks in the park watching wildlife wander around their natural vegetation habitat. The wildlife animals you watch here include; buffalos, zebras, lions, elephants, kobs, mongoose, antelopes, warthogs, hyenas, topis.
Horse back Safaris
Lake Mburo National Park is known to offer amazing Horse Back Safaris to all travelers that visit the Park as they transfer on horses watching wildlife wander around their natural vegetation habitat. The Wildlife animals you watch include; eland, buffalo, warthog, topi, impala, duiker, bushbuck, waterbuck and zebra.
Birding
Bird watching in Lake Mburo National Park is also very exceptional as you get to watch many birds fly around their natural forest habitat. The Bird species you watch here include Crested Francolin, Emerald-spotted Wood Dove, Brown Parrot, Barefaced Go-away bird, Rednecked Spur, common Quails, Black-billed Barbet, Greenwood Hoopoe, Blue-napped Mousebird, Lilac-breasted Roller, African-grey Hornbill, Nubian Woodpecker, Rufous-bellied Heron, Bateleur, Coqui Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Black-bellied Bustard and Brown-chested Lapwing.
Hiking and Nature Walks
Hiking and Nature Walks are exceptional to do in Lake Mburo National Park as you embark on a guided nature walk through the green vegetation habitat of the park watching wildlife animals wander around their natural habitat. You transfer with a skilled park ranger guide exploring the banks of Lake Mburo, Salt lick at Rwonyo. The walks take you 2 hours beginning at 7:00 am
Launch Trips
Launch Trips in Queen Elizabeth take place along Lake Mburo where you watch various wildlife animals along the shores breaking their thirst as well as crocodiles and hippos beneath the waters. The launch trips are in sessions i.e the Morning, Afternoon and Evening session where you get to explore Lake Mburo and this enables you watch many different Bird species too.
Sports Fishing
Sports Fishing at Lake Mburo National Park is also exceptional and this occurs at Lake Mburo and Mazinga Site. The Fish caught here include; mud fish, lung fish, haplocromes with tilapia which is the most popularly caught fish here.
