Detailed Trip Plan of the 8 Days (Mountain Rwenzori Hike Uganda) via Central Circuit
Day 1: Kasese
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport where you meet the driver guide to transfer you to Kasese Town located close to Mountain Rwenzori National Park. Drive for 8 hours then later you reach Kasese and check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Equator Snow Lodge.
Day 2: Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba
Morning breakfast at 6:30 am then transfer to headquarters for short briefing about hiking Mountain Rwenzori. Begin your hike at 8:00 am passing through bamboo thick bush and grass then to the rocks, bluff crossing mahoma River to Nyabitaba Hut for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 3: Nyabitaba to John matte
Breakfast then continue through the forest for half an hour over Shafer bridge, bujuku river and bamboo forest. You proceed via the rocks enfolded with slippery moss for some hours then to Nyamulenge rock shelter where you view Mountain Rwenzori’s Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. After a while you reach john Matte hut for Overnight.
Day 4: John matte to Bujjuku
Morning breakfast then transfer to traverse the Bujuku River to lower Bigo Bog and later jump from tussock a very steep region via the hut to upper Bigo along a board walk. Have lunch at the stunning narrow stream situated at the end of the bog, Mount Bake in the South, Mount Stanley in the West and Mount Speke in the North. Overnight at Bujuku Hut.
Day 5: Bujuku to kitandara
Breakfast then leave Bujuku via the trail through magical moss and groundsel vegetation at about 14,345 ft (4,372 m) to Scott Elliot Pass. Proceed following a very steep region along a short strong ladder to the right hand route to Elena Hut 14,700 ft (4,430 m).
When it is hot, the steep rock trail is very slippery and beneath it is a sheltered area where you relax before proceeding to Elena Hut. This amazing region is at the bottom camp 16,763 feet and 5,109m for climbing to Margherita peak. Overnight at Kitandara Hut.
Day 6: kitandara to Guy yeoman
Embark on hike for 5-7 hours depending on how physically fit you are following through three glaciers, ice, slippery rock. Continue on hike along the glacier, traversing the Stanley Plateau as you ascend to the Top. Face acclimatization, altitude sickness, very cold weather then continue through the Scott-Elliot Pass watching Lake Bujuku, Mount Speke then Lake Kitandara. Continue through the alpine vegetation zone and rough boulders to Kitandara Hut for Overnight.
Day 7: Guy yeoman to Nyabitaba then Nyakalengija
Morning breakfast then follow the trail ascending up to the headwall stretching out from the bottom of Mount Baker to the field Pass. While here, watch Congo in the West and Mount Stanley in the North then continue via the rock shelter at Bujongolo (Base Camp). Overnight at Equator Snow Lodge.
Day 8: Kampala/ Entebbe-Departure
Breakfast then with luggage, depart to Kampala or the Entebbe Airport where you board a flight to go back home.
